Alan Colmes Leaving “Hannity & Colmes”

I left this one alone since I first read it Sunday night in case Tim picked it up seeing as Fox News is his channel of choice but I guess I’ll take this one out for a spin. Fox News announced that Alan Colmes, the liberal counterpart to Sean Hannity will be leaving the show at the end of the year to pursue other career opportunities within Fox, such as a weekend program. He’ll continue to be a political analyst and his radio program will still be broadcast. As of right now, Sean Hannity will most likely continue to host the “Hannity & Colmes” for the time being.

I found this a little amusing because this is the exact same move that MSNBC made a few months back. Keith Olbermann occupied the 8-9 slot and was followed up by former Republican Representative from Florida, Joe Scarborough. His show was dropped and he took over the morning slot with his new show, Morning Joe (a program my Dad and I enjoy immensely) and Dan Abrams had a short run with his show “The Verdict” before the wildly popular Rachel Maddow was given her own show, “The Rachel Maddow Show.” During this time, I remember reading an article in the Washington Post that criticized them for this shift to more liberal programming in the primetime slots so it’ll be interesting to see if Fox gets the same flak for moving to become more conservative in their programming. Yeah…right…
