To My Emo Friend: A Monologue

Look, I understand everyone has their way of studying and completely applaud keeping up with work. I’m sure everyone knows someone with good intentions but fails to follow through, so again I applaud your work ethic.

Your poor taste in music is what I must inform you about. (more…)

Hannah Sets Her Sights on…Me

Satellite view of Tropical Hannah.

Compared to last year, the 2008 Hurricane Season seems to be pretty lively one with a handful of named storms popping up and heading towards the US. Obviously nowhere near as devastating as the 2005 Hurricane season that produced Katrina and Rita as well as forcing us to move into the Greek alphabet to name the rest of the storms but this year still has some life in it. Following Gustav and softening us up for Ike, Hannah has set her sights on the Carolinas with a path that is predicted to roll, quite literally, right over my house in Delaware. Fun.

By the time she hits us she’ll most likely be a weak tropical storm, if not a tropical depression. But already we’ve begun to see the first parts of the storm reaching us. Waking up this morning, the wind was blowing with steadily with a little force behind it and sitting in our den I can see the sky getting grayer and grayer as the outermost edges of the bands begun to lick at the edge of the DelMarVa (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) peninsula. This isn’t the first time I’ve been in one of these things as I’ve visited family just south of my home when I still lived in Seattle while a full on Hurricane rolled through (don’t ask me which one) and we’ve had some other storms hit us over the past few years. Either way, as long as the Bay Bridge isn’t closed come Sunday and we’re not flooded, this will be nothing more than a big rain storm.

Instant Replay Comes To Baseball

So this one is kind of awkward. I’m not understanding why this necessary. Now before you start yelling at your computer screen let me note, I’m a big baseball fan. When it comes to Chicago we have two teams, which means big rivalry, I also have a third team to root for when the Chicago teams (NL: Cubs, AL: White Sox) aren’t seen in the Washington D.C. media outlet (NL: Washington Nationals, formally the Senators). I have also played baseball for nearly half my life, until an accident which left both of my legs shattered. After 3+ years of reconstructive surgery and therapy I’m about as close as I’m going to get as I was before my accident. After being a player for some time, I switched gears and was an umpire for nearly 5 years in the local kids leagues in the area. So when it comes to baseball, flip a coin and I have experience on both sides of the coin.

Night Note: Ouch…

So for about the past year my dentist has kept telling me that I need to get my wisdom teeth taken out because they’re starting to cause some problems. I’ve got three, two on the top and one on the bottom left, and the main problem with them is that the bottom one is coming in at an almost 90-degree angle that is pushing my bottom teeth around a little bit. Up until the past few days I’ve had almost no pain, and even now it’s just a dull headache over that is easily remedied with some Tylenol.

Tomorrow I get to have them taken out, though, so that’ll be nice because it’s been one of those things that has been a monkey on my back for a while now. This also isn’t the first time I’ve had teeth removed and I never had any pain when those were removed so I’m hoping that I’ll get little to no pain this time around as well. All this is a long winded way of saying that I’ll be out of comission for probably a day or two so Tim will have free reign on the blog :)

Slow Cooking Some Ribs

I’m a big fan of grilling and BBQing food. Usually during the first warm day in April or May I break out the grill and do up some really nice marbled steaks with some seasoning and a backed potato. We’ll typically grill up a few times a month, sticking to a staple of hot dogs and hamburgers or the aforementioned steaks. Ribs are something we do less often just because it takes a lot more time to get them prepared and cooking. So today we finally grilled up two racks of ribs using a slow cooking method. (more…)

DailyKos Chuckle

Over on DailyKos, they took the call from Republican Democrat Independent Senator Joe Lieberman to see what the bloggers would have to say about Moses seriously. They listed off some entertaining “comments” about what a Moses election would be like. Just as a disclaimer, I didn’t post this for any political reason but because I got a chuckle out of reading them so hopefully you will too.

PSA: No Cake After 1 AM

Re-enactment of the cake.

Re-enactment of the cake.

So the past few days at work have been a little hectic as the President of the company is coming on Monday and we have to completely overhaul the floorset and get everything looking perfect. Last night I stayed even later than usual and got home at about 1 am. Yesterday also happened to be my sister’s birthday so of course there was a cake and when I got home I had a slice with a little ice cream. (more…)

Quick Note

This last weekend was pretty cool.

Saturday I went to the Rockin’ for the Troops Concert featuring Gary Sinese and the Lt. Dan Band.
Here’s a clip from last years concert.

Sunday I was in a trophy shoot at my local sportsman’s club. I placed 2nd place in B class. Pretty good for my first tournament I guess.

I did a pretty average for myself. I shoot a Remington 870 Pump Action Shotgun. Stats are as follows, At 16 yards, my score was 19/25 (used a 26″ barrel w/ modified choke), and at a 23 yard handicap shoot (first time at 23 yards), score was 17/25 (used a 30″ barrel w/ full choke).

Quick Note

Today was a pretty hectic day, hence the lack of any posts despite some cools news out there. Work was pretty long and once I got home I got changed and then loaded up my Jeep and headed out onto the beach to go fishing. I didn’t catch anything by my dad got something that we haven’t been able to identify. I think it looks like a Bass but it isn’t. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to get a few things up.

RE: Necessary Introductions

Filed under: Misc. — Tags: — Tim @ 8:11 PM

‘ello to any of the other bloggers out there. I am MendicantBias’s counter-part C-3PO human-cyborg relations….er I mean GenuisTim notice the genius I am considering I spelled it wrong in my name.

Anyways, like Mendicant, I too am a 19 year old college student studying Computer Forensics at a university just outside Washington DC (Mendicant and I attend same school yes). I hope to get into Law Enforcement, a Private Security Firm, or the United States Marine Corps after graduation. Outside of school I reside during the summer in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, IL.

Unlike Mendicant however, I have conflicting views. I consider myself a casual gamer, but do play a lot of video games spanning several different genres, and I absolutely hate FANBOYS. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and there is no need to bitch about something if you don’t like it. Just shut your trap and play what you like. I own a 360 and a Wii, as well as constantly building and upgrading high end gaming PC’s.

Favorite game from ‘07: BIOSHOCK

When it comes to politics, I am a registered Republican who is somewhat Libertarian in views, and Pro-Military.

Now you should understand the reasoning for this blog. The battle of the bands…. or nerds….so….Ladies and Gentlemen….. LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!
